Chillday – An oasis of well-being in the heart of Pori
In the centre of Pori, on Vähälinnankatu, stands a beautiful house steeped in history. This old building has seen many different eras; it has been a cosy family home, a lively restaurant and now, on the cusp of a new era, it has been transformed into Chillday – an oasis of well-being where history and modernity intertwine.
Many people in Pori remember the building as Ilmarin Hovi. Its former owner, the colourful and enterprising Ilmari Holmlund, was known for his bold ideas and zest for life. The building is a listed property, and its walls still bear the stories of years gone by –of celebrations, encounters and moments that helped shape Pori’s cityscape. Today, those same walls offer peace, relaxation and new experiences to Chillday’s guests.
From dream to reality
Behind Chillday is a couple from Pori, Erja and Tero Helperi. Erja has over 20 years’ experience in the beauty industry, and running her own salon has been her long-held dream. However, she didn’t want to set up just any ordinary beauty salon. She wanted to create something that meant more: a place where you could forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and step into a moment where you are simply allowed to be.
The idea had been maturing in our minds for a long time. We couldn’t find the right place, and the time wasn’t quite right. Until one day, Erja and Tero walked into the sauna facilities at Wanha Ilmarin Hovi, and that’s when everything fell into place. The warm atmosphere of the old house, its history and potential created the perfect foundation for making our dream a reality.
The house comes back to life
The renovation gave the house a new lease of life. The old surfaces were preserved, but a modern spa atmosphere, hot tubs and elegant interior design solutions were also introduced. Erja’s touch is evident in every detail. In the soft tones, the harmonious atmosphere and the details that make the customer feel special.
Tero brought his expertise and his builder’s heart to the table – he became Chillday’s “Handyman Pete”, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. Together, they created a space where every detail supports one thing: holistic wellbeing.
Chillday today
Chillday Spa & Skinroom is more than just a beauty salon. It is a spa, sauna and wellness space. A place where you can pause, relax and breathe deeply. Beauty care and skin wellbeing go hand in hand. Chillday Spa & Skinroom combines luxurious spa experiences and high-quality skincare under one roof. Every detail has been designed to support holistic well-being, where body and mind find balance.
